November Nuggets

Christa Hesselink

'Tis the Season'! This is a first for "Honest in Christa's House" nuggets!

FIND OUT THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME, "HONEST IN CHRISTA'S HOUSE" HERE.

Apart from the clever name, I'm excited to be able to share with you things that have guided me, made me laugh, and in general made my life more rich. One of my favourite things is to stumble upon new ideas and cool things people are doing, so I'm hoping some of these November nuggets do just that for you!

My Christmas Playlist

So, these are in no particular order, and all link up to youtube so you can listen for free! I hope you find some new music you've never heard here!

Snow by Sleeping at Last  (okay, for the record - Sleeping At Last is my favourite right now...and not just his Christmas album. You MUST check out his work!)

Oh Light by Gungor

O Holy Night by Glee Cast

My Holiday by Mindy Smith (Mindy Smith is another one of my all time faves!)

Still, Still, Still by The Piano Guys (I don't know why, but I cry every time I hear this.)

Winter Snow by Audrey Assad

O Come O Come Emmanuel by Rosie Thomas

Suzy Snowflake by Rosmary Cloony (one of my earliest memories is my mom teaching me this song!)

Peace by Norah Jones

There’s Still My Joy by Indigo Girls (I've had Christmas's filled with sadness and this song is about as close as I can get to finding something that acknowledges pain and yet still has hope.)

It Snowed by Meaghan Smith

Jingle Bells by Diana Krall

Have Yourself a Very Merry Christmas by Frank Sinatra (quintessential "Christmas" in my book and reminds me of my brother because he loved Sinatra's Christmas album)

White Christmas by Bing Crosby

Carol of the Bells by 101 Strings Orchestra

Tomorrow is Christmas Day by Mindy Smith

Winter Song by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson

Emmanuel by Hillsong

Auld Lang Syne by Mindy Smith

A podcast you've got to check out

I've become a sucker for a good podcast, and I've got a list of favourites!  I'll share them in future installments of "Honest in Christa's House", but you've got to know about this one.

Sounds Like a Movement

It's a weekly podcast that introduces you to "movers & shakers" that encourage ordinary folk like you and me to consider the "movement within us". Each week the host, CJ Casciotta spends time talking to people who have had the courage to create something that's mattered. And I find these stories inspiring and helpful!

Next month's "Honest Nuggets" include my grandma's Dutch OliBolen recipe to help ring in the new year and some fantastic questions to ask yourself to make the most out of 2016!
